If you're well-endowed, the correct strategy is wonderfully unglamorous: measure, read the actual dimensions, and test for comfort and security.
Girth is a useful starting point
Measure erect circumference around the mid-shaft using a soft tape. Also measure length from the pubic bone to the tip along the top of the erect shaft, using a consistent method. Condom products have differing lengths, shapes, stretch characteristics, and nominal widths (flat width of the unrolled condom), usually stated in millimeters.
Do not divide your penis circumference by two and assume the result must equal nominal width. Condoms stretch, fit depends on material and shape, and manufacturers' sizing guides vary. Use measurements to narrow options, then prioritize the real fit test.
Four ways to tell it isn't right
Too tight: It is painful, constricting, or excessively difficult to unroll. Try a suitable wider or differently shaped option.
Too loose: It slides or bunches, particularly during movement or withdrawal. Try a narrower or better-fitting shape.
Too short: It cannot unroll to the base properly. Check the product length and a longer option.
Looks right but feels wrong: Discomfort matters more than whatever the packaging calls it.
Planned Parenthood specifically advises trying different sizes and choosing a more secure fit if a condom slips, or a larger size if painfully tight.
Use it correctly once you find it
Check the expiry date and package condition. Put the condom on before genital contact. Pinch the reservoir tip and unroll it to the base. Use compatible water-based or silicone-based lubricant. After ejaculation, hold the base during withdrawal. Use a new condom each time. Do not wear two external condoms at once.
For latex condoms, avoid oils, lotions, and petroleum jelly. If a condom breaks, stop and replace it, and consider time-sensitive pregnancy/STI prevention advice depending on the situation.
The reasonable victory lap
You don't need to squeeze into something painfully tight to prove anything. And buying a bigger size doesn't make you better than the guy buying a standard one. It just means you're both doing the intelligent thing: buying equipment that fits.
